The controversial, US and Israel-backed GHF aid organization declares it is terminating its aid operations in the affected area, following nearly half a year.

The foundation had already suspended its multiple aid distribution centers in Gaza following the truce agreement between Hamas and Israel was implemented in recent weeks.

The foundation sought to circumvent United Nations channels as the chief distributor of humanitarian assistance to Gazans.

United Nations organizations and other humanitarian groups would not collaborate with its methodology, stating it was improper and dangerous.

Hundreds of Palestinians were lost their lives while trying to acquire nourishment amid chaotic scenes near GHF's sites, mainly through Israeli military action, according to the UN.

Israel said its forces fired cautionary rounds.

The GHF said on the beginning of the week that it was winding down operations now because of the "satisfactory fulfillment of its crisis response", with a total of three million packages containing the amounting to in excess of 187 million sustenance units delivered to Palestinians.

Organization Timeline

The foundation started work in Gaza on May 26th, a week after the Israeli government had moderately reduced a complete restriction on relief and commercial goods to Gaza that continued for 77 days and caused severe shortages of essential supplies.

Three months later, a famine was declared in Gaza City.

The foundation's nourishment distribution centers in various parts of the Palestinian territory were administered by United States-based protection companies and situated within Israeli military zones.

Aid Organization Objections

The UN and its partners said the methodology contravened the core assistance standards of objectivity, fairness and autonomy, and that directing needy individuals into military-controlled areas was inherently unsafe.

United Nations human rights division reported it tracked the deaths of a minimum of 859 residents trying to acquire sustenance in the vicinity of GHF sites between 26 May and 31 July.

An additional 514 individuals were lost their lives close to the routes of UN and other aid convoys, it also mentioned.

Most of them were killed by the Israeli forces, according to the office.

Conflicting Accounts

Israeli defense forces said its forces had discharged cautionary rounds at individuals who came near them in a "threatening" fashion.
