Donald Donald Trump has declared he is hiking tariffs on goods shipped from Canada after the region of Ontario aired an anti-tariff commercial featuring former President Reagan.

In a social media post on the weekend, Donald Trump described the commercial a "fraud" and condemned Canadian officials for not removing it ahead of the baseball championship.

"Due to their major falsification of the facts, and hostile act, I am raising the duty on Canadian goods by 10% on top of what they are currently paying now," Trump posted.

Following Trump on last Thursday withdrew from trade talks with Canadian officials, the Ontario's leader stated he would remove the advert.

The Province Reaction

Ontario Premier the Premier announced on last Friday that he would pause his region's anti-tariff ad campaign in the United States, telling journalists that he made the decision after discussions with PM Mark Carney "so that commercial discussions can resume".

He noted it would continue to air on Saturday and Sunday, during games for the World Series, which features the Toronto team versus the LA team.

Economic Situation

Canada is the exclusive G7 nation country that has not achieved a deal with the America since Trump started attempting to charge significant import taxes on items from primary commercial allies.

The America has previously imposed a 35% levy on all Canada's items - though the majority are free under an current commercial pact. It has furthermore applied targeted duties on Canada's products, featuring a fifty percent duty on steel and aluminum and 25 percent on cars.

In his post, sent while he was flying to Southeast Asia, Donald Trump indicated he was including 10 percentage points to the existing tariffs.

75% of Canadian overseas sales are sent to the US, and the province is home to the largest share of the nation's car production.

Reagan Advertisement Details

The advert, which was paid for by the provincial government, quotes former US President Ronald Reagan, a Republican and icon of conservative values, saying tariffs "damage every American".

The commercial includes segments from a 1987 broadcast that focused on international trade.

The Ronald Reagan Foundation, which is tasked with preserving the former president's legacy, had condemned the advert for using "edited" recordings and claimed it misrepresented Reagan's 1987 address. It further noted the Ontario government had not sought permission to use it.

Current Disputes

In his message on social media on the weekend, Trump claimed that the commercial should have been removed sooner.

"Ontario's Advertisement was to be pulled AT ONCE, but they kept it broadcasting recently during the MLB finals, aware that it was a LIE," he posted, while en route to Malaysia.

the Premier had previously pledged to broadcast the Reagan commercial in all Republican-led district in the US.

The two Donald Trump and Mark Carney will be attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in Malaysia, but Trump told the media accompanying him on the presidential plane that he does not have any "desire" of meeting with his Canada's leader during the visit.

In his message, Donald Trump also alleged Canadian officials of attempting to affect an future US Supreme Court lawsuit which could halt his whole import duty program.

The case, to be reviewed by the American judiciary next month, will rule on whether the tariffs are legal.

On Thursday, Trump also lashed out, stating that the advert was designed to "tamper" with "THE MOST IMPORTANT CASE EVER"

The Reagan ad is not the sole way that the province – base of the Blue Jays – is using the baseball championship as a opportunity to criticise Donald Trump's import taxes.

In a video posted on last Friday, the Premier and Governor Newsom jokingly placed wagers about which side would win the championship.

Both men consistently bantered about tariffs in the recording, with Doug Ford vowing to send the Governor a can of Canadian syrup if the Los Angeles team triumph.

"The tariff might cost me a higher price at the crossing these days, but it'll be justified," Ford said.

In answer, the Governor asked the Premier to restart permitting American alcohol to be marketed in province alcohol shops, and promised to provide "California's premium wine" if the Blue Jays win.

They finished their conversation each stating: "Cheers to a fantastic baseball championship, and a tax-free relationship between the region and CA."
