Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt prepared to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," posted Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the tragedy, public figures expressed divergent comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the statements as "shocking" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser could have intervened when the choice to comment on the tragedy was made.
