Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
