Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
