President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He added that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the administration to suspend asylum applications and halt granting visas to holders of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
